    Septic Systems

    February 2, 2026

Septic Tanks and Everything You Should Know as A Homeowner If your home isn’t connected to a municipal sewer system, your septic tank is one of the most important systems on your property — even if you rarely think about it. At Precision Works, we believe that understanding how your septic system functions is the key to avoiding costly repairs and keeping your home running smoothly. How a septic systems works A septic system is designed to treat and dispose of household wastewater safely. Water from your sinks, showers, laundry, and toilets flows into the septic tank, where solids settle to the bottom and oils rise to the top. The remaining liquid then flows into a drain field, where it is filtered naturally by the soil. When properly maintained, this system can last for decades. Why Regular Maintenance Matters The biggest threat to a septic system is neglect. Over time, solids accumulate in the tank. Without regular pumping, these solids can overflow into the drain field, causing clogs, backups, unpleasant odors, and even complete system failure. Routine septic pumping and inspections help prevent these problems and extend the life of your system. Everyday Habits That Protect Your Septic Tank Homeowners can also protect their septic system through daily habits. Avoid flushing wipes, feminine products, grease, or harsh chemicals. Spread out laundry loads instead of washing everything in one day. And be mindful of water usage — excessive water can overwhelm the system. How Precision Works Can Help With Your Septic System At Precision Works, we provide reliable septic installation, and repairs to get your system up and running at its best. Whether you’re a new homeowner learning about septic care or you’ve had a system for years, we’re here to help. A healthy septic system protects your home, your property value, and the environment. And with proper care, it will serve you well for many years to come.

  • “How Lawn Rolling Transformed Our Yard—And Became a Career”

    March 10, 2025

How We Got Started with Lawn Rolling: Our Journey to a Smoother Lawn Introduction The Benefits of Lawn Rolling Lawn rolling is a simple yet effective way to improve the look and feel of your yard. Every spring, rolling the lawn brings noticeable benefits that make a difference throughout the season. One of the first things you notice after Lawn Rolling is how much smoother it feels underfoot. The difference between rolled and unrolled sections is surprisingly clear. Walking across a rolled lawn is easier and more comfortable, without the unevenness. Lawn Rolling doesn’t just feel smoother—it looks smoother too. It gives the yard a refreshed, uniform appearance, almost like starting a brand-new summer with a clean slate. The even surface enhances the overall look of the grass, making it more appealing. Lawn Rolling also improves the mowing experience. A smoother lawn means less bouncing and jarring for the mower, reducing wear and tear on the equipment. Since the ground is more even, you can mow at a steadier, faster pace, making the job quicker and more efficient. Lawn rolling may seem like a small task, but its benefits are easy to see and feel. From a smoother walking surface to a better-looking yard and easier mowing, it’s a simple step that makes a big impact each spring. How It All Started In the summer of 2018, I rented a lawn roller to smooth out our yard. As I was loading it back onto the trailer, a neighbor driving by rolled down her window and asked if I would roll her yard as well. "Sure," I happily replied, realizing that not only could I help a neighbor, but it would also offset the cost of renting the roller. The following year, I rolled additional yards for family and neighbors and quickly realized how much I enjoyed it. What started as a simple yard improvement project turned into something bigger—and now, we’ve made a career out of it. The Inspiration: Why We Started Lawn Rolling I was inspired to start rolling our yard simply to have a nice, smooth lawn for the summer. The winter months here in Northern Indiana take quite a toll on the yard each year, leaving behind bumps and uneven spots. Lawn rolling became a way to restore and refresh the yard, making it look and feel great for the warmer months ahead
